As predicted a few months ago, properties are now renting faster as summer approaches. The average time it takes to find new tenants is between one and three weeks.

Properties in greatest demand are 3 and 4 bedroom homes. However, there are an increasing number of one-bedroom flats attached to homes, particularly in Longview, Lake Hawea, where many new homes have recently been completed. These one-bedroom units are also very popular with couples or singles tired of living with other people and keen for a space of their own.

Rentals in central Wanaka never go out of favour. Many tenants do not have a car so a property within walking distance of work, cafés and the lakefront are always in demand.

We have also seen a renewed interest in executive style homes for discerning families or professional couples.
