If a rental home is not able to be inhabited due to damage, the owner may give 7 days’ notice to the tenant and the tenant may give 2 days’ notice to the owner. This is in cases where the damage was not caused by the tenant or by a breach of the tenancy agreement.
For a house to be habitable, it must have an adequate supply of running water, have working toilets and showers, and be reasonably secure and safe to live in.
If the tenant damages the house, they will be responsible for the rent until the damage is repaired and the house is rented again.
