If a landlord suspects the rental property has been abandoned, only 24 hours’ notice of an inspection will have to be given and if it is found the property has indeed been abandoned, the landlord can apply to the Tenancy Tribunal to end the tenancy with the hearing to be held within 10 working days of the application. This proposal will cut down the time in abandonment case and allow the property to be re-let in a shorter time.
